Additional Visa Information
Entry
Travelling to Ghana requires a valid passport and travel visa. Visitors to Ghana must obtain a Visa from one of the Ghanaian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the countries or territories that are either visa exempt or whose citizens may obtain a visa on arrival.
Apply for a visa in person or by mail through the Embassy of Ghana. Expect processing to take a few business days, and build in mailing time for the return of your passport with the visa stamp. Find all the info you need about getting the visa through the Embassy of Ghana in your home country.
Required Vaccinations
All travellers who are at least 9 months old must be vaccinated against yellow fever to get into Ghana. Get the vaccination and an original certificate of vaccination as proof to submit with the visa application.
Other Vaccinations
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that anyone headed to Ghana be current on all routine vaccinations; those who aren't should be vaccinated at least four to six weeks before departure to develop full immunity. Routine vaccinations include measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT), poliovirus, chicken pox and influenza.
